Now, you can power up your PC with Android. Here is the step by step guide to install Android 2.2 Froyo on Windows or Linux PC. Once you follow these steps, you could dual boot your PC with Android and other OS.

To start with, we need VM ISO installed on your computer because we would be installing Android on VMWare, Virtualbox.

INSTALLATION OF VMWARE / VIRTUALBOX

Here are steps to create a fresh VM in VMWare.

  • First, you need to create a virtual machine
  • Once you are done with it, you need to configure the virtual machine
  • Change your virtual disk type to be IDE (hard disk)
  • And install Android x86 normally

Here is the step by step guide to install Android 2.2 Froyo on Windows or Linux PC:

STEP 1: First you need to create a bootable USB disk, on which you need to burn the ISO image of VM ISO that we have downloaded.

STEP 2: Now, boot from Android-x86 installation USB and click on the option labeled as Install Android To hard disk.

STEP 3: Now, you need to select the partition on which you want to install Android. All you need to do is choose any one of the listed partition or create a separate one.

STEP 4: Now the installation will prompt you to install Grub bootloader. So, you need to install the bootloader in NTFS partition if you are trying to install Android on Windows OS. If you are trying the same on other operating systems, then install the bootloader to /grub/menu.lst manually like

title Windows rootnooverify(hdo,o) chainloader +1

Here first ‘o’ represents Drive and second one represents partition number. ‘o,o’ represents first partition of first disk.

Now wait, as the installation process will carry on itself. That is it, you have successfully installed Android on your Windows or Linux PC. Now, whenever you boot your PC, it will dual boot with your previous OS and Android.
