Best Way To Factory Reset BlackBerry On Windows

Factory Reset BlackBerry on 32 bit Windows 7 or Windows XP

  • Install the BlackBerry Desktop Software on your machine

  • Launch the RUN utility and if you are on Windows 7 or Vista, make sure you Run as administratory
  • Now enter cmd and hit enter
  • And on the command prompt, hit the below two commands

cd C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Apploader

loader.exe /resettofactory

Factory Reset BlackBerry on 64 bit Windows 7 or Windows XP

  • Install the BlackBerry Desktop Software on your machine
  • Plug in your BlackBerry to your computer
  • Launch the RUN utility and if you are on Windows 7 or Vista, make sure you Run as administratory
  • Now enter cmd and hit enter
  • And on the command prompt, hit the below two commands

cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\Apploader

loader.exe /resettofactory

Best Way To Factory Reset BlackBerry On Mac

  • Install the BlackBerry Desktop Software on your machine
  • Plugin your BlackBerry to your Mac
  • Launch Terminal and enter the below two commands

cd /Applications/BlackBerry\ Desktop\ Software.app/Contents/MacOS/

./bbdm resettofactory

or

./bbdm -password ****** resettofactory

NOTE – If you have password protected to your BlackBerry, then you have to use the -password argument followed by the password

Reset BlackBerry To Factory Settings With QWERTY Keypad

In this method we would be using the keys, so you can try this method only on those BlackBerry smartphones which have QWERTY keypads. Below are the steps:

  • Hold the Alt button on your BlackBerry
  • And while holding the Alt key, press and hold Right Shift button
  • Now press the Backspace / Delete button while holding the above (Alt and Right Shift buttons)
  • Once the BlackBerry starts to reset itself, release all the buttons and relax

Reset BlackBerry To Factory Settings Without QWERTY Keypad

Now there are few BlackBerry smartphones which do not come with QWERTY keypad as are touchscreen based devices. For such BB smartphones, you can follow the below steps:

  • Get on to the Option on your BlackBerry
  • Navigate to Security Options > General Settings
  • And press the button left to the trackball and select Wipe Handheld and that is it
