Install Android 4.0.1 Ice Cream Sandwich On Samsung Galaxy Tab


Honeycomb was the customized OS by Android meant for tablet PCs only. Apparently, Galaxy Tab was the first tablet PC to come with Android Honeycomb. Now, if you want to install Android 4.0.1 Ice Cream Sandwich on Samsung Galaxy Tab, then here is some help.

These steps would only work if the model number of your Galaxy Tab is P1000. Android has released its XDA for Ice Cream Sandwich and using which, we would installing the same on Galaxy Tab.

Steps To Install Android 4.0.1 Ice Cream Sandwich On Samsung Galaxy Tab

Apart from the fact that your tablet should be of specific model, these steps to install Ice Cream Sandwich on Galaxy Tab will only work. if you have a rooted Galaxy Tab.

If have shared some of the ways to root Galaxy Tab, please follow them in order to root your tablet PC. Now i assume that you have a rooted P1000 Galaxy Tab, so lets start with the steps to install Android 4 on Galaxy Tab.

First thing that you need to do is download ICS ROM for Galaxy Tab. You can get it from HERE.

Now connect your tablet PC to your computer and copy the downloaded ICS ROM to the SD card of your device. Now you need to boot your tablet PC in recovery mode. Below are the steps to do it.

You need an app named ROM Manager to do it, so get it downloaded from the Android market for free. Launch ROM Manager and then tap on the Install ROM using SD card option, and then browse to location where you have copied the ICS custom ROM on your SD card.

It would prompt you with the two options, Backup Existing ROM and Wipe Data and Cache, and it is recommended to go with Backup Existing ROM as it would help you revert back all the changes if you do not like the Sandwich on Galaxy Tab.

Once the custom ROM is flashed on Galaxy tab, it would reboot and that is it. This is how you can straightaway install Android 4 Ice Cream Sandwich on Galaxy tab.
