Here is the complete step by step procedure to install Android 2.3 Gingerbread on Motorola Droid / Milestone:
STEP 1: First, visit the Android market on your Motorola Droid / Milestone.
STEP 2: Now in the Android market, search for ROM Manager and download it.
STEP 3: Once you download it, launch the ROM Manager and choose the option, Flash Clockwork Mod Recovery which will actually install the recovery image.
STEP 4: Now download Android 2.3 Gingebread ROM on your computer and extract it.
STEP 5: Copy the extracted files to the location SDcard > ClockworkMod > backup.
STEP 6: Now, in the ROM Manager, naviagte it to Manage and Restore Backups and simply restore the backup that you have copied earlier.
That is it. This is how you can install Android 2.3 Gingerbread on Motorola Driod / Milestone and upgrade it.

how do I transfer the file to sd – clockworkmod
I’m currently using the Cincinatti Bell custom 2.2 ROM on my Motorola Milestone XT 720.
Can I use the steps mentioned above to install 2.3? My fone currently has root access.
Also should I keep the files I copied to my SD card while installing the 2.2 Custom ROM, or can I delete them?
