How to Upgrade Motorola Droid X to Froyo ( Android 2.2 ) – Leaked OTA Update

By default your Motorola Droid X will be running Android 2.1 version. If you are longing to try out on Froyo, Here is the procedure to flash your Droid X to Android 2.2 a.k.a Froyo through Leaked OTA Upgrade. This copy of a leaked OTA update in which will upgrade your baseband and system.

Note: If you have modified your Droid X from the default stock configuration you’ll need to revert these changes before proceeding for this upgrade! The changes include getting your phone themed, removing bloatware, etc.

Download the update.zip file from here and place it on the root of your sdcard and reboot your phone in recovery mode:

  •  Hold down the home button and the power button.
  • When the triangle with the android appears press the search button (far right button)
  • Select apply sdcard:update.zip
  • Sit back and wait (5 – 10 minutes)
  • Restart your device.

The first reboot into a newly flashed ROM will take significantly longer than normal. Remember, patience is a virtue. Once booted, your Droid X will be running the latest Froyo! Enjoy!
