It has not been much of time that Sony Xperia PLAY has been in the market, but it has started impressing quite a good share of Android users. Once you root Xperia PLAY, you would be getting the root access which lets you download and install apps which need root access. So, we are sharing one of the most easiest and quickest way to root Xpeia PLAY.
Root Sony Xperia PLAY On Gingerbread
Well, this root method basically flashes the completely rooted Gingerbread firmware of Xperia PLAY. And if you start with it, there are few things you need and few things you need to take care of.
Below are the required tools:
-
Download R800i WORLD.184 (play_modded.img)
Root Xperia PLAY
Start the command prompt on your Windows machine, and if you are working on Mac OS X or Linux, switch on to the terminal.
Now, copy the downloaded play_modded.img file to the fastboot directory in the ADB setup. Once it is one, you need to run the below command depending on the OS you are working on:
-
Windows:
fastboot flash system play_modded.img
-
Linux:
fastboot -i 0x0fce flash system play_modded.img
-
Mac:
fastboot-mac -i 0x0fce flash system play_modded.img
Once you hit the above command, it would automatically start with the process to root Xperia PLAY. Just sit and sip a cup of coffee, while it is busy rooting your PLAY.
is it safe to root xperia play because when i went on rom manager it said my waranty will be void so i dont know wether to risk it or not :/
well, it might void the software guarantee but company would still be bearing the hardware responsibility…
would strongly reccomend another method for rooting for the following reasons.
1. DRM certificates are deleted by unlocking the bootloader so trackid will no longer work nor will some other things.
2. Voids warranty and will brick your phone if you try to use an official update once the above process has been done.
3. No way to get back to factory defaults or locking bootloader is a one way process.
I would reccomend using gingerbreak try googling has alot of info there especially xda forums. They also have both the above methods for rooting.
Hi.
I buy my XPERIA PLAY in Amazon.com.
Now, I do this steps and my SIM CARD doesn’t recognized by PLAY.
Also, everytime I boot the PLAY, it ask me the LANGUAGE guide.
There is one way to recover the original img system, or fix it?
