Lets talk about the latest tablet PCs in the market, Sony Tablet S and Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9.  There are number of reasons which make these tablet PCs close competitors to each other, so lets call it Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 vs Sony Tablet S.

We have compared these tablet PCs such that it gives you an idea if any of these tablet PCs meet your set of requirements. And the fact that both the tablets run on same processors, same operating systems, equally powerful RAM makes them really similar to each other in so many aspects.

Processor

Both Sony Tablet S and Galaxy Tab 8.9 run on 1 GHz Tegra 2 dual-core processor. And it is not just the processor which makes these tablet PCs equally good, the similarities in their specifications continues.

RAM and Memory

Yes, as mentioned earlier, both these tablet PCs are powered by 1 GB of RAM. And this is a clear reason we wont be digging much into this part of its specification. Galaxy tab 8.9 is available in two models, which are 16 GB and 32 GB. We are not sure about Sony Tablet S, but the sources do suggest that even this Sony tablet PC would be available in 16 GB and 32 GB.

Operating System

Android Honeycomb is the latest version of the Android OS which is meant for tablet PCs only. And both these tablet PCs from Sony and Samsung run on Honeycomb. Like most of the specs mentioned so far, we still do not find a clear cut winner.

Camera

Finally we have something which is different about both these tablet PCs. Sony Tablet S packs 5 MP rear-facing camera and 0.3 MP front-facing camera whereas, Galaxy tab 8.9 features 3 MP rear-facing camera / 2 MP front-facing camera. Those who would be using camera for video chat, would prefer to go with Galaxy and for photography, Sony looks better.

Price

If you want to go with Galaxy Tab 8.9, you would have to pay $469.99 for the 16 GB version and $569.99 for 32 GB. Whereas, the Sony Tablet S has a price tag of $499.99 and $599.99 for its 16GB and 32GB models respectively.

And if you are planning to buy one of these tablet PCs, then it is surely going to take some research from your end. No doubt, Sony Tablet S would a better choice if you want something for gaming. But it is hard to separate these tablet PCs from each other. We would recommend you to visit the store, try out both of them, think of your requirements and then decide whether it is Sony Tablet S or Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9.
