INTEL : First USB 3.0 Product Gets Certified By USB-IF


Jeff Ravencraft, President of USB-IF officially announces the certification of first USB 3.0 product. NEC’s xHCI host controller is the first product which would be facilitated with the much awaited technology USB 3.0. Year 2010 will witness the high speed USB technology.

Specifications of USB 3.0 guarantees a transfer speed of 600MBps which ends up as whooping 25GB in 70 seconds. So get ready to redefine the lightening speed. According to experts the performance of USB 3.0 is expected to be 10 times powerful than USB 2.0.

Microsoft is already working on its operating systems to make USB 3.0 compatible with it. And most expectedly, Windows Vista will feature all the resources to support the powerful USB 3.0 technology.

Intel expects that few of the companies would showcase the USB 3.0 in the form of ExpressCard-to-USB 3.0 adapter or laptops with USB 3.0 functionality. Intel also announces the availability of PCI slots to make this technology usable with desktops also.

Devices provided with USB3.0 technology can also be used with USB2.0 cables, although you can enjoy its optimized performance with its authentic gear.
