How To Root Nook Tablet And Install Android Market


Unlike Nook Color, Nook Tablet is more than an ebook reader. Yes, Barnes and Noble brought this amazing names device “Nook” into the market as a device to read ebooks.

Nook Tablet is a powerful tablet PC with a 1 GHz dual core processor and 1GB of RAM. So, we would be sharing a complete step by step tutorial to root Nook tablet and install Android market.

And once you root Nook tablet, you can install number of third party apps to make it more purposeful. But before we start with it, below are few tools that we need to go ahead.

Step By Step Guide To Root Nook Tablet And Install Android Market

Step 1 – Enable Debugging Mode

Just like we go ahead with rooting of any other Android device, first thing we would do is enable debugging mode. But doing it on Nook tablet is as straight forward as on other Android devices.

You need to install any app so that you can get to access the Settings. Just open your web browser on the tablet and download any app. Yes, any app would do. You can get apps on GetJar.

Once the app is downloaded, tap on the Notification icon on the bottom left of the screen and then tap on the downloaded app in order to start with the installation.

Tap on the Settings option and then enable the option labelled as Allow Installation of Applications from Unknown Sources.

Now get on to the Development settings menu and enable USB Debugging. In addition to that, disable the Auto Mount option too. Make sure that you enable both the USB debugging options.

Step 2 – Work With Your Nook Tablet

On your computer, create a folder named ntroot in C drive. So, its path would be like, C:\ntroot.

Inside that directory, you need to unzip the above downloaded zip files in the above mentioned location.

Now from the zipped contents, run the file named as runmefirst.bat. When you run this batch file, it would open the Device Manager.

Here on the Device Manager, right click on the Nook tablet and then click on the Update the driver option. Now browse, can choose the location of the driver as C:\ntroot\usbdriver\.

It might show you an error before installing the drivers, so just ignore it and go ahead with the drivers updation.

Now, run another batch file in C:\ntroot named as NookAndZergy.bat. Once you run this file it would automatically start with the process of rooting Nook tablet. In the process, it would also install Google Apps which includes the Android market too.

That is it! This is how you can root Nook tablet and install Android market on it. Since it is rooted now, you can browse the Android market and get some apps installed on it which would make your device more purposeful.
