I am a huge fan of ultrabooks. Yes, I am talking about ultrathin laptops. Only few would deny the fact that Apple MacBook Pro has been the first mainstream ultrathin laptop.

A couple of years back, finding a laptop as pretty as MacBook Pro was nearly impossible. But times have changed big time. Almost all the laptop manufacturers like Dell, Samsung, Acer, HP and many others have introduced their own ultrabooks which as as gorgeous and as powerful as MacBook Pro.

In this post we would be comparing, Acer Aspire S5, Dell XPS 12 and MacBook Pro. And that is how this post has been labelled as Acer Aspire S5 vs MacBook Pro vs Dell XPS 13. By the way, we would be talking about the latest MacBook Pro Model. Yes, the one with Retina Display.

Acer Aspire S5 vs New MacBook Pro vs Dell XPS 13 – Compare Specs

Processor

Running on 3rd Generation Intel Core i7-3517U Processor with Turbo Boost Technology, Acer Aspire S5 offers you incredible power. Dell XPS 13 runs on 1.6GHz Intel Core i5-2467M processor. Whereas MacBook Pro gets going on2.3GHz Intel Core i7-3610QM processor. You can anyways go with the i3, i5 or i7 processors for any of these laptops as per your requirement and budget.

Memory and RAM

Well, all these laptops are powered by 4 GB DDR3 RAM except for MacBook Pro. The Apple laptop features 8GB DDR3 RAM. But if you are looking for a bigger RAM with any of these laptops, then you can anyways configure the same.

Lets talk about the storage memory aspect now. With latest Apple MacBook, you would get 256GB SSD storage which is same as for Acer Aspire S5 too. And Dell XPS 13 offers you a storage space of 128GB SSD. If you believe that this much of storage is not enough, then you can surely shelve some extra dollars and get it expanded.

Display

There is no question about the fact that Apple wins this aspect against any existing laptop on the planet. A 13inch Retina Display with a resolution of 2,880×1,800 pixels (which is greater than a HDTV) promises incredible display. No doubt, its display you entice you, cease you, thrill you and please you.

If you ignore the Retina Display factor of new MacBook Pro (which is hard to do though), the other two laptops are no less than any other existing laptops in the market.

Dell XPS 13 features 13 inch edge-to-edge Gorilla Glass display with a picture resolution of around 1,600×900-pixels. And Acer Aspire comes with 13.3-inch LED-backlit display screen with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels.

Graphics

Graphics have always been a deciding factor to buy a computer or laptop. The superman like MacBook Pro features NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M / Intel HD 4000 graphics support which is surely better than Intel HD3000 graphics on other two laptops.

Design

Apple has not experimented much with its design but has surely the newer MacBook Pro thinner and lighter. With the well known sparkling aluminum body, it weighs just about 4.6 pounds and measure 14.1 x 9.7 inches in width and length whereas its height (thickness) is 0.7 inch. Being an Apple fan, I would not prefer any other laptop over MacBook when it comes to design. (Yes, this opinion is totally biased ).

But mind you, the other two laptops are equally pretty. If you are not biased towards Apple, then you might like them better. Dell XPS 13 is compact and gorgeous. I actually like its keyboard the best. This laptops measures just about 3 pounds and is 0.24-0.71 inch in height measures 12.4×8.1 inches in width and length.

Acer Aspire S5 weighs about 2.65 lbs and is 0.59 inch in thickness. It measures 12.77 x 8.95 inches in depth and length.
